About Kevin Holman
Before Kevin Holman began working at California Orthopedics & Spine, he worked as an orderly and nursing assistant. He also spent time as a massage therapist because his college roommate was a massage therapist and inspired him to join the field. His time as a massage therapist, along with his personal experience with back pain, have led him to become an incredibly useful asset to spine care at our practice.
Before becoming a PA, he spent time doing an ecological/horticulture program. Kevin didn’t realize his passion for orthopedics until he returned to PA school when he was 48 to expand his skills in medicine. He discovered a passion for orthopedics and spine care because it tied in so well with his experience with massage therapy. His favorite part of being a PA is helping people not only relieve their pain but understand what was causing it and what they can do about it.
Education
Kevin attended UC Berkeley and then UC Santa Cruz for his undergraduate degree. He initially chose to study nutritional science but then switched to psychobiology, graduating in 1977 with his bachelor’s degree. When he chose to continue his education later in life, he attended Touro University for his Masters, where he combined Physician Assistant Studies with their Public Health program. He graduated in 2007 and began working at California Orthopedics & Spine the same year.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, Kevin enjoys a variety of hobbies and activities. He loves gardening, going to the beach, and traveling to Hawaii, where he co-directed massage school.
